Full Bathroom Remodel in Alexandria, VA, Scott St – Project #58

When this Alexandria homeowner wanted a real change, we delivered a complete bathroom remodel from the ground up. That meant demolishing the room to the studs. This was the right way to handle a bathroom renovation of this scope. Starting fresh gave us full access to the infrastructure, so we could correct the layout for better flow and address anything behind the walls before closing it back up. No shortcuts, no guesswork.

For the floor, we went with 12x24 gray porcelain tile. It's durable, slip-resistant, and gives the room that clean, contemporary look Northern Virginia homeowners expect at this price point. We carried the same tile up the shower walls — a choice that creates visual continuity and makes the space feel intentional rather than piecemeal. The vanity wall gets its own treatment: a bold black-and-white geometric accent tile that gives the room personality without overpowering the rest of the design.

The vanity is a 30-inch dark charcoal cabinet topped with white quartz. That contrast between the dark base and the bright countertop does a lot of heavy lifting for the overall aesthetic. We also installed a frameless glass shower door (the single most effective way to make a bathroom feel larger than it actually is). Inside the shower, a custom-built recessed niche keeps toiletries organized and off the floor - a small detail that homeowners consistently say they wish they'd done sooner.

Structural work was just as much a priority as the finishes. We applied high-grade waterproofing to the subfloor and wall framing to protect the home long after the tile is grouted and the fixtures are set. A high-capacity ventilation system manages humidity, which matters in a space this well-sealed. Every phase of this project was built to Alexandria code and passed city inspections, so our clients get the paperwork to prove it, not just our word.
