Master Bathroom Remodeling in Arlington, VA, 5th St – Project #43

As part of an extensive whole-home renovation on 5th St in Arlington, VA, our team completed this master bathroom remodel to provide the homeowners with a functional yet tranquil space. The project involved a complete reimagining of the existing footprint to better serve the primary suite. We focused on blending natural wood textures with sleek, modern finishes to create a high-end, contemporary aesthetic. Take a look at the project gallery below to see the results of this Arlington bathroom transformation.

The Challenge

  • Obstructive Layout: The toilet was originally located right at the entrance. This made the room feel crowded and poorly planned.
  • Closed-Off Shower: A bulky partition wall between the bathtub and shower blocked natural light and divided the room unnecessarily.
  • Aging Infrastructure: Older pipes and worn subflooring required replacement to support the new finishes and maintain long-term durability.

What We Did

  • Stripped the entire bathroom down to the wall studs and subfloor.
  • Relocated the toilet to the far corner of the room to improve privacy and traffic flow.
  • Replaced the full-height partition with a low pony wall and custom glass — a move that instantly brightened the space.
  • Installed new PEX water lines and PVC drainage systems throughout the suite.
  • Added an electric radiant heating system under the new tile floors for year-round comfort.
  • Mounted a custom double vanity with twin mirrors and linear LED lighting
  • Built a custom tiled shower niche (ideal for organizing toiletries) and installed a matte black rain shower head.

Permits and Code Compliance

Every phase of this Arlington project met or exceeded local building codes. Our team managed the permit process and passed every inspection — including plumbing, electrical, and structural reviews — to confirm the quality of the build. Each step of the work was verified by county inspectors to guarantee the home meets all safety standards.
The Final Result

The new master bath is a bright, open space that feels significantly larger and more cohesive. By shifting the layout and using vertical fluted tiles, we maximized the visual height of the room. The contrast of the oak-toned vanity against the black hardware provides a balanced, organic look that fits the modern Northern Virginia lifestyle perfectly.

This specific master suite served as a central part of a larger full home remodeling effort — we renovated four bathrooms in total during this project. Every room reflects a specific design goal. You can view the other three bathroom transformations (all completed within the same construction timeline) in the gallery section below, where we have documented the full scope of our work.
